Giovanna Battaglia: Audace Manifesto

This surrealistic masterpiece, "Audace Manifesto," was styled by Giovanna Battaglia for the March issue of Vogue Paris. The essence of Salvador Dali pervades the photographs of Arizona Muse and Missy Rayder covered in the most luxurious gemstones, bold makeup, and little else beyond a few feathers and straps here and there. Giovanna sets the tone for the editorial thusly: "L'art et la manière surréalistes d'associer bijoux et joyaux massifs sans logique de genre. Seule valeur dominante ici : le plaisir des apparences." which translates into English as "The art and practice of associating surrealist jewelry and massive gems without logic of any kind. The single dominant value here: the pleasure of appearances." The jewelry is absolutely exquisite and the diamond and tsavorite necklace by De Grisogono is especially stunning, remember when Giovanna wore it at Cannes last year? The long list of jewelry designers featured includes Sarah Heulwen Lewis, Tony Duquette, Anndra Neen, Solange Azagury Partridge, Chopard, Lucifer Vir Honestus, Keiselton Chord, Ana Khouri, Gucci, David Yurman, Hermès, Delfina Delettrez, Repossi, Bottega Veneta, Buccellati, Cartier, David Webb, Lanvin, Ilias Lalaounis, Patek Philippe, Bulgari, Pomellato, Faraone Mennella, Van Cleef & Arpels, Keiselstein-Chord, and Jaeger LeCoultre. Mikael Jansson photographed "Audace Manifesto;" the model on top wears Mark Fast and the model below is in Alexander McQueen.

Giovanna Battaglia: Girly, Classy, Funny

Style.com recently shared a video that they filmed in the Tuileries in Paris during Fashion Week and Giovanna Battaglia is one of the three stylish women on whom they focus. Though we have only about 45 seconds with Gio, it is definitely worth watching. She describes her style and her outfit for us in her sexy voice: "I'm Giovanna Battaglia and I'm a fashion editor. I am definitely not a rock 'n' roll chick. I like to be kind of girly, classy, funny. I feel quite sexy but not too much. Today I have a bit of everything I like a lot... jacket of Dolce & Gabbana which is like sexy and tight, funny skirt from Missoni, I love the beaded fringe, and Sergio Rossi shoes. In my head this morning I was like a tribal city fashion soldier. I like to wear color mostly all the time, maybe because I'm Italian, I don't know... I get bored too easily... The shoes give you the attitude right away." I love her shimmy in that Missoni skirt, perfetto !

Giovanna Battaglia: Jungle Beauty

Matheus Mazzafera captured this gorgeous shot of Giovanna Battaglia in the wild, clad in leopard print as she undulates among the palm trees. As usual, Gio has selected the perfect pieces to accompany the amazing dress, from the striking gold hoops gracing her earlobes to the flat shiny sandals adorning her feet. Insert Tarzan yell here.

B For Battaglia

I thought it would be fun to post a photograph that focuses on Giovanna Battaglia's amazing accessories and ask readers to contribute known details. For example, I know the ring is by Fendi and the watch is by Rolex but what about the series of bracelets? Who designed the darling "G" and "B" earrings? I look forward to hearing from you...

G For Giovanna

Merci mille fois to Fred at Easy Fashion Paris who captured this epic shot of Giovanna Battaglia during Paris Fashion Week. Her outfit lends itself perfectly to the classic black and white treatment right down to the "G" adorning her earlobe. Fred mentioned that Gio wears a "B" on the other ear, a clever take on the traditional monogram. Also notice the chic leather bag under her arm, the Rockstud from Valentino's Spring/Summer 2011 collection; I find it simply irresistible in black. Visit Fred's site to view more wonderful Paris street portraits.
