Dolce & Gabbana: La Prima Linea Couture

Nella splendida cornice del giardino del San Domenico Hotel di Taormina pochi giorni fa si è tenuto il lancio della prima collezione di alta moda del famoso duo italiano Dolce & Gabbana. Per questo speciale evento ha sfilato anche la nostra Giovanna Battaglia, nota al mondo della moda per essere amica, ex modella e storica “musina” del duo siciliano. Non a caso ad alcuni eventi come il Met Ball di New York, l’amfAR Gala di Cannes o al Chanel Tribeca Film Festival, tanto per citarne qualcuno, l’abbiamo vista indossare meravigliosi outfit firmati proprio D&G. L’evento, che si è tenuto a porte chiuse, è stato vietato alla stampa e le immagini in circolazione sono poche, nessuna che immortali Giovanna durante il defilè. Ospiti della serata sono stati solamente un numero selezionatissimo di amici, editors e celebrities di fama internazionale come Scarlett Johansson, Isabella Rossellini, Monica Bellucci e Naomi Campbell, che sono stati fatti accomodare su sedie di legno da cucina, poltrone e divanetti damascati.

Quello di Domenico Dolce e Stefano Gabbana è stato decisamente un debutto in pompa magna, un evento-sfilata memorabile diviso in due serate. La prima è iniziata con la rappresentazione della Norma al Teatro Greco della città, seguito dagli spettacolari fuochi d’artificio davanti al suggestivo panorama del golfo di Taormina e dell’Etna. La seconda serata, invece, è stata interamente dedicata alla sfilata organizzata in collaborazione con Vogue. La collezione, denominata semplicemente Alta Moda, era composta da ben 73 looks. Immersi in un’atmosfera magica tra bouganville rigogliose e cactus secolari si sono susseguiti un tripudio di abiti femminili; tailleur e cappotti sartoriali dal mood anni cinquanta, abiti-vaso di Capodimonte, camicette bianche con collo di pizzo chiacchierino, guaine lingerie avvolte in nuvole di tulle dall’effetto see through, abiti da sera che rimandano al famoso film di Luchino Visconti Il Gattopardo, abiti con disegni floreali ad acquarello realizzati a mano, e l’immancabile pizzo siciliano. Tutte creazioni meravigliose per tagli, tessuti e raffinatezza delle forme. Un connubio di eleganza e tradizione siciliana, tanto cara ai due stilisti, con un occhio rivolto al futuro.

In the wonderful setting of the garden of San Domenico Palace Hotel of Taormina in Sicily a few days ago, the launch of the first haute couture collection of the famous Italian duo Dolce & Gabbana took place. For this special event our Giovanna Battaglia walked the catwalk also, well-known to the fashion world to be a friend, former model, and historical musina (muse) of the Sicilian duo. Not by chance, at events such as the Met Ball in New York, the amfAR Gala in Cannes, or at the Chanel Tribeca Film Festival, to name a few, we have seen Giovanna wear marvelous outfits signed D&G. The event, which was held behind closed doors, was forbidden to the press and the images in circulation are few, no one immortalized Giovanna during the fashion show. Guests for the evening were only a very select number of friends, editors, and celebrities of international fame such as Scarlett Johansson, Isabella Rossellini, Monica Bellucci, and Naomi Campbell, who were accommodated on wooden kitchen chairs, armchairs, and damask sofas.

For Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana this was decidedly a debut in pomp and circumstance, a memorable catwalk-event divided into two evenings. The first started with the performance of Norma at the Greek Theatre in the city, followed by spectacular fireworks in front of the beautiful view of the Gulf of Taormina and Mount Etna. The second night, however, was entirely dedicated to the fashion show organized in collaboration with Vogue. The collection, simply named Alta Moda (Haute Couture), was composed of 73 looks. Absorbed in a magical atmosphere among luxuriant bougainvillea and ancient cacti succeeded by a blaze of feminine clothes; tailored coats and suits with a 1950s mood, gowns like Capodimonte vases, white blouses with necklines of chiacchierino (lace tatting), lingerie girdles wrapped in clouds of tulle to see-through effect, evening gowns that recall the famous film of Luchino Visconti, Il Gattopardo (The Leopard), gowns with watercolor floral drawings made by hand, and the inevitable Sicilian lace. All marvelous creations for cuts, fabrics, and refinement of the shapes. A union that combines elegance and Sicilian tradition, so dear to the two stylists, with an eye to the future.
