Giovanna Battaglia: Best Dressed 2011

The eternally chic Giovanna Battaglia was nominated for a number of honors recognizing her inimitable sense of style as 2011 concluded. Among the best was Cathy Horyn's mention in her Top Ten Moments In Style for 2011, I love her description so much that I must include it: "The euro zone may be coming apart at the seams, but Giovanna Battaglia's dress at the Cannes Film Festival held its own. What a dress, what a woman! Ms. Battaglia's vintage Stephen Sprouse gown seemed a delirious cut-and-paste job; the men's blazer worn over her shoulders and the goddess pony tail were a nice finishing touch from a stylist with glamour shooting out of her eyeballs. Her outfit completely killed the rest of the red-carpet looks for the year."
Also interesting was the Daily Beast's list, 2011's Best and Worst Dressed Stars, in which they examine the chic as well as the horrifying. Of course Gio was listed as one of the chic... They were even kind enough to link to us... "An Italian stylist for W magazine, Giovanna Battaglia has become a celebrity on street-style blogs and has developed her own loyal fan base. Now there’s even a blog, I Want to Be a Battaglia, which follows Battaglia and all of her glorious fashion choices — from vintage to Versace, from polka dots to plunging necklines — but always, her signature studded Valentino pumps."
Congratulations, Giovanna! I imagine that I speak for many of us when I say that I anxiously await your sartorial choices for 2012...

La sempre chic Giovanna Battaglia è stata nominata per numerosi honori che riconoscono il suo style inimmitabile alla fine di 2011. Tra i migliori era la menzione da Cathy Horyn nei suoi Top Ten Moments In Style per 2011, mi piace tanto la sua descrizione che devo l’incluire qui: “La zona euro potrebbe arrivare a pezzi, ma l’abito di Giovanna Battaglia al Festival di Cannes si è ben tenuto. Che vestito, che donna! Il vestito vintage Stephen Sprouse di Signorina Battaglia sembrava un lavoro taglia e incolla in delirio; la giacca di uomo portato sulle sue spalle e la coda di cavallo divina erano un bel ultimo tocco da una stylista con il fascino che esce dagli occhi. Il suo abito ha assolutament ammazzato gli altri look del tappeto rosso per l’anno.”
Anche da notare era la lista del Daily Beast, 2011’s Best and Worst Dressed Stars, nella quale esaminano il chic sia che lo spaventoso. Certo che Gio era una degli chic... Erano perfino così gentile di collegarsi a noi... “Una stylista italiana per W magazine, Giovanna Battaglia è diventata una celebrità sui blog street-style ed ha sviluppato i suoi proprio ammiratori. Adesso c’è anche un blog, I Want to Be a Battaglia, che segue Battaglia e tutti le sue scelte di fashion magnifiche – da vintage fino a Versace, da pois fino a scollature profonde – ma come sempre, le sue tipiche scarpe con borchie di Valentino.”
Congratulazioni, Giovanna! Immagino che parlo per tanti di noi quando dico che aspetto ansiosamente le sue scelte sartoriale per 2012...
